Legal Question in DUI Law in New York

DUI - Move to Another State

I am 19, have been convicted of DUI in the state of NY, US. I currently live with my mother but would like to move

to Florida to live permanently with my boyfriend and his family. I have been evaluated by the TASC program and am attending weekly meetings. What would I have to do in order to move down south, is it possible? Could I be remanded to the State of NY? And is it normal I have not recieved a list of charges against me?

Re: DUI - Move to Another State

A DWI charge is not a bar to moving. You do not lose your first amendment rights to travel. On the other hand, if you are convicted and put on probation, that could hamper your rights. Have you discussed this with your TASC counselor? What about discussing it with your lawyer?

Finally, you can get a certificate of disposition which will have all the charges and the disposition of same on it, from the clerk of the court where you were convicted.

Good luck.
