Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Child Support Cessation

Divorced 4/94. 2 sons from marriage. Ex-wife got custody. Paying child support since. Beginning 11/96 (when youngest child was 10) ex-wife cut off all contact with my youngest son (including visitation, phone calls, mail, etc.) I have had no contact with him since that time despite my efforts. Family Court will do nothing to help me. Continue to pay child support. Youngest son now 18 and wants nothing to do with me. Has been totally brainwashed against me and his older brother (who maintains a very good relationship with me). Do I have any hope of winning a motion to cease paying support for this child? Thank you for any input or advice.

Re: Child Support Cessation

Shouldnt the child support terminate once your son graduates from high school or turns nineteen. Therefore, you might have six to twelve more months of child support. It probably would not be worth your while to pursue a claim of parental alienation. I just cant see this be practical. Its a tough claim to prove and economically would cost you more than what you would save.
