Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Child Support Inquiry

I have been divorced for 3 years and I am now renting a room in my house. My ex husband says if I am now renting a room he does not need to pay child support as it is additional income for me. The money he pays me is CHILD SUPPORT and not maintainence or alimony.....Can he stop paying the $500 a month that he generally pays late??

Re: Child Support Inquiry

No. Your husbands obligation to pay child support is not changed by your obtaining additional income.
