Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I just split up with my ex and we have two kids. We agreed to share custody and I was looking to get a mediator to get it in writing. My oldest son receives social security benefits, would I be entitled to any of that money?

You would not be entitled to your son's benefits. Whether you need an attorney or a mediator depends upon your situation. You should speak to an attorney in order to figure out what you need in your situation.
