Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I was wondering how child custody orders work. In a previous order my ex and I shared custody n placement and the order said our son couldnt be removed from our school district. We just went bk to court this past July and it saids joint custody, summer time we do sunday to sunday and during school I have placement father has wknds. Im wondering if that means I can register my son into a new school district that has better education. It will not stop my son from going to his dads on the wknds.

Child custody agreements are fluid-situations change before a kid turns 21. Talk to an atty or free service-even the court clerks may help. It sounds as if you and your ex have a good repoire and can fill out a stipulation, the clerk will tell you the right language and/or give you a form to fill out, both sign, notarize and submit it to the court. If your ex signs off on it, it sounds like he cannot later complain.
