Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

Mother in law problems

I am pregnant and my mother in law is already giving me problems; we currently live in her house but are hoping to move into our home (it is being renovated) by the time the baby comes. I do not want her to try for custody of my child or have any rights to my baby if my husband should have a car accident or something (he has had several accidents and is going to try to become a truck driver, not saying that they were all his fault and this is worse case senario which I pray never happens but if it should I want to be ready for it). What can I do? She is overly controling and since we live in her house right now I cannot say anything to her, she is currently feeding my cats while I am not home and I have asked her not to... if she does this with the cats than God knows what she will do with my baby! I am seriously concerned about my baby and our rights to keep her at bay, not take her visitation privileges away, not yet atleast, but just prevent her from becoming too much to bare.

Re: Mother in law problems

Hi:

You are the natural mother andI assume your husband is the natural father, and therefore have the custodial rights and responsibilities Once you move everyone will have their own space and your problems should resolve themselves. For now try and relax and stay healthy. Good Luck
