Re: Immigration Law

Getting married to a U.S. citizen is not an automatic bar to a potential deportation at a latter time. It is best for you to see an immigration attorney before you attempt to marry.

A marriage license is not difficult to obtain. Contact your local county or municipal clerk office. Once you are married, your US citizen spouse may file an immediate relative petition with USCIS on your behalf. I strongly recommend that you have a consultation with competent immigration counsel before proceeding with immigration filings.

Re: Immigration Law

Generally, a person with overstate visa, may adjust his status upon bona fide marriage with a U.S. citizen, however, since you are on J visa, it is an extremely important to consult an immigration attorney.

As to a marriage license, it is not that difficult to obtain, just follow rules that can be provided by clerks office in the City Hall.
