use of images on tshirts

hi,

i'm starting up a t-shirt design business and would like to use images on my shirts

i'm wondering what the legalities are for using images for profit

there are three types of images i'd like to use:

1. photos of famous people, such as the first family

2. clipart designs,

3. stock photos of pets

i find the agreements on websites with free clipart (i.e., google images, microsoft clip art) long, wordy and confusing; can you give me any guidelines?

also, i'd be willing to pay to get the images if necessary; but would like to conduct this start-up business as inexpensively as possible

To avoid litigation over copyright infringement, you will need to license almost any image you want to use.
