Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

Boss withheld information needed to effectively do my job.

Was it legal for my boss to fire me for performance issues when she kept me from attending meetings and withheld information from me that was critical to my effectively doing my job. I was promoted twice within 6 mos before reporting to her and knew my job well in spite of the fact that I was never given a job description when promoted or had any clear direction from her.

Also, There were two managers who reported to my boss, myself and a man who was with the company less than 6 mos. Flex-time was a benefit the company provided, however, my boss insisted my staff of 7 stay until 5PM regardless of the time they arrived in the AM. This was not required of the other manager's staff. I was also instructed to provide my staff's vacation schedules for the entire year by end of January, which I did. As of May, the other manager had not been asked to submit vacation schedules.
