Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

eeoc and employment arbitration

I recently filed for (required) arbitration for wrongful termination. Two weeks later I filed a complaint with the EEOC for age discrimination in this matter. Have I committed my first legal faux pas? Or does it not matter which was filed first?

No you have not committed a faux pas. Hopefully this will all be sorted out by the EEOC before they (1) dismiss your case and give you a right-to-sue letter; or (2) your employer stops all arbitration proceeding and any negotiations because you have a claim pending with the EEOC (this is standard operating procedure for most employers).
