Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

Favoritism and Salary

I work at consulting company and joined this place about 1.5 years ago. There is another woman who is a year older and she used to be hired as a contract worker back in Japan's HQ.She worked at the company as a contract worker for 1.5 years but she has no other experience previously. For me, before I joined this company I used to work at different job for 2.5 years. Myself and her do the simillar, almost the same tasks. The boss who has power really likes her in very obvious way. ( Calling her cell phone from Japan etc.) I recently found out that she gets paid 65K a year, and I only get paid 50K a year. I am wondering isn't 15K too big of a difference as the same junior position..? What Can I do to inquire since I am not supposed to know how much salary she is receiving.

Re: Favoritism and Salary

It may not matter how you obtained the information as long as it was patently illegal. The question is are you prepared to file a formal complaint?
