Legal Question in Employment Law in New York

Was I Wrongfully Fired?

Back in December, I was Sexually harassed by the guy who was, at the time, the general manager of the restaurant that I was Bar managing. I had been there for nearly 2 years, managing for about 6 months. But then the incident occured in which I was harassed, and I went to my supervisor. After filing a report, The GM was immediatly fired, to what I thought was my relief. But then, not even a week later, I was taken off from the schedule and replaced by another woman who had zero experience in management.

Nobody at my place of employment will tell me anything as to why I was laid off... they try to say that it was due to a lack of work, but I was actually replaced by someone else, so that is not the case at all. It is obviously because of the sexual harassment, and now I am jobless because I did what everyone told me was the right thing to do.

Do I have any rights here?

Re: Was I Wrongfully Fired?

Yes, it sounds like you were wrongfully fired, as it is impermissible to fire someone in retaliation for reporting a discrimination claim.
