Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York

Dispute over payment of gas

If a tenant signs a lease that states they are responsible for paying electricity & ''gas,'' if the lease does not state that gas includes heat, are they only responsible for paying for cooking gas? The gas bill that the landlord receives does not separate out the types of gas coming into the house. Please advise.

Re: Dispute over payment of gas

If the lease states that the tenant is responsible to pay for gas, that means that the tenant must make payment for all gas.

Although it is true that a landlord must provide heat, providing heat and paying for heat are 2 separate things.
