eviction

i was given 7 days to move out of my apartment, which means i have to live in a motel until i find another place to live. within a week my apt was rented. my question is was this proper notice and what are my rights.

It depends on what you mean by "given 7 days to move out" Did it come from a direct order of the court or did the landlord send you a notice and you just moved out? If the Court gave you notice, was it because your lease expired or you didn't have permission to live there? Whatever the reason, just know that in order for the landlord to evict you, he must obtain an order from the court. If you voluntarily left after receiving a notice only from the landlord, then that is a different story. You can call my office directly if you have any other questions.
