Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York

Notice of Petition Non-payment Dwelling

I've lived in this apartment 27 years and am behind 3 months in rent. The landlord has served me this petition. Does this mean I will be evicted?

Re: Notice of Petition Non-payment Dwelling

It means they are taking you to court to evict you. You must respond to the petition in a timely manner or they will get a default judgment and a warrant of eviction against you. If you would like to remain in the apartment your best chanc to do so or work out a better deal to vacate would be tp have legal represenattion in court. This area of law is our specialty, however, we would need some more information before making a complete and proper determination. You are welcome to contact us for a free consultation.
