Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York

rights to property

Over 30 years ago my in-laws moved our mobile home on property of theirs so we would have a home. We have nver paid rent or taxes, we have no running water or electric. Now there are family problems. Do we have any rights? Also all up keep to the home and road was done by us,

You have basically had a free ride for 30 years and you are asking about your rights to their property? Your rights are essentially those of a guest. They cannot discard your property or otherwise break the law to cause you harm, but you have acquired no rights to the land. As for the work you provided, I find it hard to believe you haven't been compensated for your work many times over, in terms of foregone rent, utilities and other expenses. If there are problems with your in-laws, I suggest you move, and start paying your way. You might also want to consider paying something back to your in-laws in appreciation of all of their years of hospitality.
