Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York

tenant dispute

My former tenant in NYC has filed a civil complaint against me for return of his security deposit which requires me to appear in person. I live in CA and the complaint is frivolous, as he moved without giving me 30 days notice, and I lost two months rent. What are my options if I can't appear in NYC?

Re: tenant dispute

You should re-post this for a NY attorney. CA permits appearances by affidavit or representative for out-of-town property owners. Perhaps NY allows the same. Good luck.

Hire a local lawyer to represent you. Make sure that you give that lawyer all of the information. Btw... When is your appearance? Please contact my office.
