Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York

I took a tenant to small claims court that broke a 12 month lease. The lease was going to end 6-31-16. They moved out 1-31-16, which made them 5 months short on the lease. I filed a small claim for the 5 months and had a court hearing 3-30-16. The Judge ruled in my favor and awarded me the rent for 2-2016 and 3-2016 but said because I elected to file claim now he could not rule for the months that had not occurred yet as it might be possible that the apartment gets rented for those months. To date the apartment has not been rented although there has been numerous people that have looked at it as well as 1 that filled in an app but the credit check did not pan out. The question is would I still be able to file a claim for the last 3 months.
