Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

Question about my Lawyers procedure

Hi my Lawyer has agreed to take my case on a contingency basis, however he asked me for a $1000 to put into a escrow account for him to use for additional expenses such as filing papers with courts and so forth. Is this a normal procedure for a Lawyer to do?

While it is not improper, my firm does not ask clients for upfront money, even to cover expenses. Your potential lawyer may have doubts about your case. If you want to discuss your case, please feel free to call me at 212-622-7180. If we were to take your case, we would not ask you for upfront money.
