Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

I wanted to know if I were to rent a car without buying the extra insurance if I would have any liability if something went wrong. I am disabled on both a Veterans Pension and Social Security, I have no assets and last year I filed bankruptcy. Do I need the extra insurance? Thank you.

Yes, you could possibly face liability if you do not have enough coverage, you should also read the rental agreement very carefully. I do suggest extra insurance to make sure you are fully covered.

It depends on whether you own and insure a car. If so, most policies will adequately cover liability for rental cars. Check yours. If you don't own and insure a vehicle, it would be necessary for you to buy the insurance offered by the rental agency. Best, M. E. Zuller
