Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

I brought some property and one of my neighbors is very bitter towards us (mainly because she wanted it as we found out later). She has done everything she could to sabortage us. It took us five years to get permits to build, had the taxation dept change my property from residential to commercial, went to all the neighbors and lied about what we want to do with the property to get them to sign a petition against us building, interfer with hired/professional helpers performing tests required to get our permits, she recently called the environment protection on us and they said we must clear the property, my husband rented a bulldozier and started to clear it, while my husband is clearing the property a building inspector comes over to him and asks whats he doing because the same neighbor called their office and said we were putting up a building and I could go on and on but this should give you an idea of what we are going thru. Now all we want to do is sell it but she is taking down our signs and only G-d knows what else. Is there anyway to stop her? Can we sue her?

It sounds like you have grounds for a law suit but some of her behavior might not be actionable. I can't offer legal advice, but I can offer that some of the issues that she raised (getting a petition signed, etc.) are things that concerned property owners do all the time to block actions that may affect the quiet enjoyment of their property or lower their property values.

You should contact an attorney (which presumably you will need to do to sell your property anyway) to have them walk you through the next steps.

Good luck!!
