Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

How to get a copy of my home purchase agreement

Hi,

I need to obtain a copy of my home purchase agreement. I puchased my home approximately 2 years ago in NY and never received a copy of my purchase agreement. I had assumed my lawyer would have a copy of it but I cannot track him down nor my paperwork. Is there anywhere I can obtain a copy of this?

Thanks very much for your time.

you can check to see if your lawyer is still practicing and get his name and address at -www.brooklynattys.com.

Just click on the "See if your attorney is registered to practice in New York State Click for New York State Attorney Inquiry" link.

Re: How to get a copy of my home purchase agreement

If you know your lawyers name and he or she is still practicing law they should be pretty easy to find.

If you need copies of any recorded documentation such as the deed or mortgage you can obtain that from your local county clerk or department of land records.

For a copy of your purchase contract you might try contacting your mortgage lender or broker. Before they would lend money to purchase I'm certain that they would have taken a copy of your contract. Good luck.
