Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

Hello,

My friend (I'll call her Kate) sold me a washer and dryer for $350. It was a gift from her sister (I'll call her Hilda) but she no longer needed it so she sold it to me. The sister-Hilda, called infuriated about this because she was still paying for them on her credit card. Who has a right to the washer and dryer? The receipt and paperwork all has Kate's name on it. Hilda says she is coming to my house next week to pick up the washer and dryer if we don't pay her for them. What do I do? I already paid Kate.

You own the appliances. If Hilda shows up, I woulvd call the police. And I would tell her as much now. And I would let Kate know that her sister is crazy.
