Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

Neighbors parking on lawn

My 2 neighbors continue to park on my side yard. We have no curbs so they drive right up on the grass. They also tell there guest to park there also. What is my legal right after telling them not to park there?

Remember the adage: "Good fences, make Good neighbors."

So, ... Consider building or constructing a "fence" or other obstruction (perhaps edging your yard with large painted rocks, to "re-train" your neighbors), and to prevent their unwelcome trepass upon your property.

However, YOU should not (through ignorance of the law) violate any local ordinances or rules concerning "front" or "side" yard fencing or obstructions. Therefore, Be certain to comply with all locale filing requirements for any fence or obstruction, you may decide to place.

Good luck,

you could call the cops of course, but then you'll hear the standard "uh, dis is a civil matter we can't do nuttin'" cop bs. Then, you can hire a lawyer to get a restraining order and hopefully a permanent injunction, which in English means the court says "don't do that stuff no more." If they violate it, they could be held in contempt of court, and theoretically go to jail. Of course, it is expensive to go through all of this, and your neighbor will not exactly be seeking to be president of your fan club.
