Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

Neihbor wants to cut large branches off tree

My neighbor has told me they are

going to cut branches on my 100+

year old healthy OAK tree at the

property line because of sap on their

cars. I am disputing this. My

arborist states in writing that the

tree would be in danger of dying if

they do so and the tree's estimated

value is $30,000. What else do I

need to do to prevent this from

occurring- do I need a police report if

a tree removal company comes or do

I cooperate with the tree company

so that at least the branches are cut

in a healthy manner?
