Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York

i purchased a condo in westchester NY in 1987 solely for the reason they had no restrictions to owners having dogs. five years ago the board decided to put a weight restriction on only dogs weighing 35 pounds or less. I feel since i've been there so long i should be able to adopt any size dog i want and if they want to change the rules it should only apply to new buyers. Can they do this, the dogs i am interested in weigh between 35 - 65. I live alone, recently retired and want to adopt. Thank you.

You definitely will need to hire an attorney for this one. It all depends on the condo agreement that governs your property and the local laws.
