Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York

I received a speeding ticket-going 72 in a 55-I had just gotten off the NYS Thruway that has a 65mph speed limit-I reset my cruise control at 70 thinking it was 65--Do I have to appear since I live 2 1/2 hours away and have 2 jobs it will be hard on me-Do I plead guilty and send a explanation to defend my case?

A 72/55 carries 4 points and roughly a $200 fine. It can also adversely affect your insurance rates. We, therefore, recommend that you fight this ticket. If you do, you likely can save points and avoid an insurance hike. If you hire a traffic lawyer, then you will NOT have to appear in court. He or she can appear for you. Feel free to call us for a free consultation. We appear in all the courts along NYS Thruway.
