Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York

received a ticket for disobeying a traffic control device. Police officer said I was going 55 in a 40 mph speed limit. I was speeding. I seriously don't think I was going that fast because he showed up behind me just as I was turning onto my street, but he was being nice knocking it down to the traffic control device. is it best to request supporting documents and hope to meet with the DA to get it knocked down to something less or bite the bullet and plead guilty. I have nothing on my license and haven't in probably 20 years.

I would not ask for a supporting deposition . I would advise my client to enter a plea of NOT GUILTY. Then upon the court date or before I would try to plea bargain this infraction to a no point violation. You may contact my office @ 718-834-0087 for a free phone consultation.
