Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

My mother passed away and her car was left. I have never had a driver's license. I received a letter from the court to claim the car but never did. She rented a parking space and I continued to pay the parking. The car would not run and since I do not have a license I was unable to transfer the title and have the car registered and insured. The parking company tried to contact me because they learned that my mother had passed, and because the parking fees went up, but I moved and never received any of their correspondence. They had the car towed, and I cannot claim the car from towing for the reasons I already mentioned. The parking company says that since the fees had gone up and that the automatic monthly payments I made were insufficient, I owe them money. I have written them and requested that the fees be waived - we will see. My question is how do I proceed with the towing company? Will I be liable? I am stuck and do not know what to do. Thank you for any assistance you can offer, it is appreciated.

You are not responsible for your mothers debts. Her estate, if any, is. You can junk the car for parts.
