Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

My son's godfather and our best friend passed away and his estate went to the State of NY. We found he had called his attorney and friend (who told us he had called her) 2 weeks before he passed and told her to change his will to leave everything to my son. She never changed his will. Was worth millions. Does my son have any legal recourse?

POSSIBLE MALPRACTICE CLAIM AGAINST THE ATTORNEY, BUT THIS MIGHT BE VERY DIFFICULT TO PROVE DUE TO THE SHORTNESS OF TIME BETWEEN THE CALL AND THE DATE OF DEATH. YOU ALSO DID NOT STATE HOW LONG AGO THIS OCCURRED? THIS MIGHT IMPACT THE POSSIBLE CLAIM AS WELL.

"Change his will". If he had a will the assets would not go to the State.
