Your employer through the workers' compensation carrier has the legal right to "direct medical treatment" because they are paying for it. There are some common medical facilities to which they send all injured workers. Workers' Comp is not like personal injury cases. There are very specific laws. You should contact a Workers' Compensation attorney to help you with this issue. I am happy to answer any other questions that you may have.

When you initially report your injury to your employer, they will tell you where to go for treatment. If they don't give you a specific doctor or urgent care center, you are free to choose your own care facility. However, once the insurance company accepts you claim then they can and will direct your care as Geneva states above.

However, if they deny your claim, then you are free to choose your own doctor. However, you should seek legal counsel to represent you at a hearing to request payment for your medical expenses.
