got civil summons today for credit card debt,12000.Iam on disability and live in NC,I have no proerty or assets.what can they do? Icant pay.

Disability is exempt, so they cannot take that. Make sure that you do not commingle exempt income with non-exempt income or with another person.

If you are truly judgment proof, the judgment lasts for 10 years and can be renewed for another 10 years. It earns interest at a rate of 8%. Its going to only get bigger, but depending on your circumstances, it may be wise to do nothing.

Is this your only debt? Does it make sense for you to file bankruptcy? As an alternative, are you able to settle the debt? Would you be able to settle the debt by putting aside some amount each month? If so, a debt settlement agency might be able to assist. Be careful, there are many scammers out there.
