If the judgment for debt is originally form a North Carolina court, you will not have your wages garnished. However, you need to claim your wage exemption and the funds in your bank account exempt. You need to file the motion on time for the most protection. If you do not file your motion on time there is a risk that your bank account could be frozen and you would have to claim your wage exemption then, which could leave the account frozen for a few weeks until things get sorted out.
