under age drinking

17 yrs son charged with under age drinking at party officer did not call parents or take him in custody just gave him a ticket and court date what should i do i think someone at station should have at least called the officer left him at party

You may want to consult a lawyer that focuses on criminal law, but there may be a Court-related program for underage drinkers, whereby if the Defendant completes a program or course, the charges can be dismissed. I am aware of similar programs for First Offenders with drugs. You may want to consult with the DA's office, or hire a criminal lawyer for more details. The biggest concern is probably your son's record, if he plans to go to college etc. in the future, or if he goes into a profession where he would have to disclose that.

As for the failure to call a parent etc., those are not likely to be helpful in getting the charge dismissed or resolved.
