Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Carolina

How do I legally refuse to answer some very embarrassing and personal jury duty questions? I don't want to go to the judges chambers. I don't want to answer them. How do I refuse and stay out of jail?

The old lawyer joke is that juries are composed of people too stupid to get out of jury duty. There are some voier dire questions that have been deemed 'improper' but the vast majority of questions are allowed as a Defendant has a right to confront the jury. So depending on the question the most likely outcome is you will be required to answer. You can always refuse to answer but it is possible to be held in contempt. Even though a judge may threaten it - it would be highly unlikely for a judge to actually put you in jail for refusing to answer. They would more likely than not simply be very angry and excuse you from the jury. Best of luck!
