Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

I had temporary custody of my nephew through the courts, and he went to visit his father and his father tried to say he was abused and then while they did the investigation. We have been proven innocent. We were not allowed to have contact with him. And in the meantime his father moved. We have located him at this point and the father has never returned him to us it has been 2 years. And the state he moved to said our papers didn't say he was supposed to be returned. Which it clearly says . do we have any rights or should we just drop all of it. Our attorney closed the case, nobody in that state would talk to her . He is not being taken care of properly. Cps got involved

If it has been 2 years, why bother now? If you do decide to follow up - you need to hire an attorney in the local area where the child is now. Best of luck
