Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

A few years back while vacationing in Italy my daughter met an Italian man. They were attracted to each other and a short period later were married in the US. At the time none of us were aware of his long term plan. My daughter was in love and convinced he was the man she would spend the rest of her life with. He had other plans. He got a job on his green card (thanks to my daughter) with a major airline and met another woman. He is now living as man and wife with this other woman. My question being: He has filed for divorce and has sent She has received my daughter. Is she obligated by law to sigh and return them? She has received a summons to appear in court.

If he filed in North Carolina there is nothing for her to sign and return. It's not like he needs her permission or consent to divorce her. If he meets the eligibility requirements he is entitled to a divorce as a matter of law and there is nothing your daughter can legally do to prevent it. She should of course, consult with an attorney to protect other rights such as alimony, ED, etc.
