Legal Question in Civil Litigation in North Carolina

Hello, I'm being sued by a guy pertaining to a car accident from 8/2006. My insurance company paid him out the max, which was $30,000. My insurance company sent me a letter saying he could not sue me, but he's suing me for $10,000. I'm a single mom working part-time with two kids. What can I do?

You may need to get an attorney. You will need to have an attorney review the letter from your insurance company. Maybe they made him sign a settlement agreement that he couldn't sue you in which case you would want to get a copy of that. Whatever you do, you will need to answer this complaint properly in the right time frame and raise any valid defenses.
