Legal Question in Real Estate Law in North Carolina

a lien has been placed on our property in nc. The lien is in my husbands name but the judgement is against me.Is this legal. He was never responsible for the debt. I purchased siding for the house with my signature only. My husband lost his job at the time and I'm on disability. So it was impossible to meet the debt. The court awarded the plantiff the debit but I haven't been able to pay it. Is there anyway to get lien released without payment. I'm trying to refinance my home for a lower rate. Also. I notice that Maine has a Request To Discharge Execution On Real Property. Does NC have this?

I would consult with a real estate attorney in your area - we would probably need to review the lien and have a better understanding of what is happening. In fact, if you are trying to refinance, you might just want to talk with the attorney that will be handling your refinance.
