Legal Question in Real Estate Law in North Carolina

I live in north carolina. I wish to give an acre of land to a family member. I inherieted eight acres of property from my father. Can I do this without my wife's consent. Does she have any say in the matter?

If you are married, she has to sign off on the deed even if you inherited the land alone.
