Legal Question in Real Estate Law in North Carolina

I have a serious problem with mold. Everything I own is runied. I have called landlord, sent letter with rent and sent email with problem and have gotten any response. Rent is not behind and I need to know what can I do. I don't feel like I should continue to pay rent and nothing gets done. I have thrown away shoes and clothes. I have mold growing on my furniture etc. etc.etc.

Send your landlord 1 more letter and give him a deadline to respond...10 days. If he doesn't respond, you can sue in small claims court for rent abatement (where you say the home is worth less in its current condition and the Court reduced your rent until the repairs are made...or lets you out of the lease).

Keep in mind, that you always have a duty to mitigate your damages. Move all property from mold areas and if you can try to clean items before disposing them.
