Legal Question in Traffic Law in North Carolina

I had my first court date for OWI first offence in NC, i was called while sitting in court room to plea not guilty or guilty , i plead not guilty , judge lined us up and was asked about attorny and i said i had none and he asked if i was going to represent myself and i said yes, this is not what i wanted, what i wanted to do was speak to DA and get min. now i dont know w

what to do.. I know i cant represent myself.

Just because you said you were going to represent yourself doesn't mean you can't hire an attorney. The reason the judge was asking was to see if you needed a court appointed attorney. For future reference, if you want to speak to the DA you tell the judge to leave your case "open." By pleading "not guilty" that means you have requested to have a trial and they will give you a new court date at which you will have to try the matter. But before the court date hire an attorney, he or she will be able to assist you.
