Legal Question in Traffic Law in North Carolina

Why do I have to pay court cost to pay a ticket I received? I live 3 blocks from the courthouse, I was in the wrong but I am not going to court, that's NC.

First of all - you don't have to pay Court cost however, if you don't lots of bad stuff will likely happen to you. How far you live from the Court house has nothing to do with Court cost. What do you think Court cost are for? It takes people to process your ticket, these people have to be paid thus unless you are found not guilty, you somehow magically convince an ADA to dismiss your ticket or you convince a Judge to waive costs - one way or another - you are paying Court cost.
