Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Ohio

Real estate property liens

Can a company put a lien on my property account we are having a dispute over a bill? I was told that the work being dones was going to be one price but got a bill much higher. I have paid the amount quoted but this company is hounding me for $607 dollars more. What should I do?

Yes, they can place a mechanic's lien on the property even if there is a dispute as to the amount owed. There is a legal mechanism to get the lien released wherein you have to serve the vendor a notice through the sheriff to either sue or the lien is vacated. It would be my suggestion to contact an attorney to make sure it is done correctly.
