Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Ohio

I recieved a letter from a company saying they wrote my debit off as a loss. They told me (sent a 1099) to claim it on my taxes as income,I did that. Now 5yrs later (yesterday7/24/12)some 3rd party company contacted me saying they brought the debit and,i owe them what should I do?

You need to contact an attorney to see what the next step would be. You may consider sending them a copy of the write-off letter and 1099 (take out your social security info) along with a letter saying you don't owe anything because it was all written off (if that was true). They might leave you alone after that. If they don't definitely contact an attorney to meet in person.
