Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

I worked for an athletic club last summer as a camp director. I am now being accused of accepting a check for $1100, in return for a group of children attending camp. The mother who wrote the check says I told her the money would come out of my paycheck, so that is why the check should be made out to me. The mother gave the police a statement saying I told her the money was going to the camp. There is no record of the children in the camp attendance. Today the police tried to interview me. They said I am a suspect in a theft case. If anyone has any advice criminal or civil, please help me.

This is serious. You really need to meet with a lawyer before you have any further contact with the police. Where are you located?
