Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

I was charged with a f5 attempt of felony in June of this year. I am currently on probation. I was just charged with a m1 theft and my court date is tomorrow. I returned the merchandise, apologized to the manager, and went back and paid for the items the very next day of the incident. I have a 3 year old son and times are tough financially. I can't leave my son I can't do jail time. Any advise on avoiding jail time? These are my only two convictions. I know there will be consequences for my actions I'm just trying to find the best way to go about this so the consequences are as minor as possible. Any thoughts????

In Ohio, if you cannot afford an attorney, you should apply to the court to have one appointed to you. A public defender can be of great assistance in this situation and you should follow what the public defender says to do.
