Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

Granddaughter asked to purchase a phone case online. Allowed her to use credit card number for the case. She opened a PayPal account and has ordered over $3,000.00 worth of merchandise including 10 Coach purses. She lives with Grandpa. What should he do? He does not want her to have a criminal record but wants her to understand she was wrong (she does not admit this and is, in fact smug). She is 15 years old and when questioned about the purchases said she heard voices and was going to kill herself.

Her parents are divorced, both live locally.

If the granddaughter "hears voices" and is threatening to kill herself, she might be having a psychotic episode. The child should be seen by a competent psychiatrist.

The credit card holder can talk with the credit card company about the unauthorized use of the credit card. Authorization to use a card one time for one purpose is not a blanket authorization to use the card.
