Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio

statute of limitations.

in ohio, ive done some research about state of limitations. for a misdeameanor charge, it says two years. now does that mean if the court puts out a warrant, if they dont find you in two years youre fine? someone please clear this up so i can stop obsessing about it! thanks!

Re: statute of limitations.

The statute of limitations relates to how long the police have to put out a warrant for your arrest. If the warrant was issued for a misdemeanor offense within the 2-year statute of limitations, it may still be possible to prosecute you even after the two year period is over.

If there is a warrant out for your arrest you need to take action to get rid of the warrant. Otherwise, the next time you get a traffic ticket (or get into an accident, even if it is not your fault) the police will run a record check and arrest YOU!

Please addres this issue now, before you have to do it from jail.
