Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Child Custody

I'm 18 I have a part-time job and am going to college and I have a stable home and enough money to support my younger cousins. My cousins are 9 and 6 they are not at all taken care of and it concerns me I've been planning to put in for there custody since I was 16. I have plenty of evidence that there father is not a good parent and I have overwhelming amount of evidence on their mother. I really want those girls it breaks my heart to see them go through what they go through. They have always been so close to me and they are like my daughters because I have cared for them since they were little. I need to know what steps I should take, and if I could possibly win a custody battle.

Re: Child Custody

You should contact child services. They will investigate. If they believe there is cause to believe the children are in immediate danger they will remove the children temporarily while they continue to investigate. Their preference is to place the children with suitable family, so the children could possible be placed with temporarily. If child service determines to permanently remove the children they will need a court order to do so. During those proceedings you can apply for custody. Good luck.
